the irony is, if he'd dumped Rummy months ago, the republicans prolly would have held congress.
i have no real faith that gates will be any better... but i'll admit i actually whooped out loud when i heard ;)
I doubt Gates could possibly be worse than Rumsfeld. From his background he should have some connection to empirical reality, unlike his predecessor.
