Un-freakin'-believable

Unbelievable. If you haven't seen this story about the Sweet 15 Birthday party in Knoxville, you must, must read it.

I've read it through twice now, jaw dropped both times. Unbelievable. The second time I read out snippets to my husband.

"If I ever have a daughter," he says "now I know how to celebrate her 15th birthday." Trust me though, he's kidding. My husband is cheap. He followed up with "I would never pay for my daughter to have a lap dance, by the time it would no longer be wholly immoral to do so, she could afford her own."

And how could Brittany's future husband ever hope to compete with such expectations when it comes time to plan an anniversary surprise for her? I agree - unbelievable.

They'd have been better off donating that money to a local community kitchen.

Your astonishment amazes me, VA.

After all. It is Knoxville.

Mr Galt, that's just mean.

Thank you. It is often opined that the truth causes pain.

[Really big grin from a Vandy alumnus.]

Don't they have Bar Mitzvahs or Quinceaneras or even debutante balls in Tennessee? Not much shock to that story.

No - not so much. I think in hard core protestant Knoxville conspicuous consumption is still a definite no-no, well, at least at that level.
