It's oft been said that whatever is all the rage in America will be a fad here, too in a year. Now with all that global communication jazz, it takes less time than that, it's taken about a week in the case of fuel panics.
About two days ago folks started panic buying gasoline and filling stations started running out. Apparently there's no real supply problem, but one's been created by people's buying habits.
There IS a rumor that there will be a fuel tax protest (remember that tax makes up about half of the cost of a gallon here) and a protest by hauliers (truckers) about 5 yrs ago resulted in a successful blockade of the major fuel depots meaning there was a real supply problem. But a subsequent one didn't really amount to much, mostly because there was little public support.
Anyway, I'm not rushing out to buy any gas, mostly because I hardly ever drive anywhere. I have one trip planned and that's over to the Texan's to bring over my big stewpot and to learn how to make a decent roux and Beaumont style gumbo on Saturday. And she only lives a couple of miles away.

Seems the proposed tax protest petered-out. I guess that's a good thing.
